Monday Dispatch - Volume #198

Start your week off right:

  1. The Tilting house is built on a column which allows the house to rotate 360 degrees and tilt as people move through the house. I would love to live in the house for a few days to experience it.

  2. Do you know where the phrase, o.k., came from? I did not so I was fascinated by its journey from slang to universally embraced.

  3. The wet suit manufacture, MANERA, traveled up to the Lewis & Harris islands to film kitesurfers in this gorgeous video. I have heard of those islands but I definitely want to go now.

  4. Italian photographer Gianni Cipriano’s work focus Italian politics very similar to Weegee. I love the look at the classic black and white and how he puts the viewer in the center of the action.

  5. Nicholas Fong creates these memorizing GIFs that just draw you in. It takes a few seconds to figure out whats going on in each one.

  6. I love the quiet urban landscapes of Jesse Rieser. I feel like I have been to a few of these places.

  7. “Inspiration is for amateurs – the rest of us just show up and get to work. And the belief that things will grow out of the activity itself and that you will – through work – bump into other possibilities and kick open other doors that you would never have dreamt of if you were just sitting around looking for a great ‘art idea.’” Chuck Close

  8. Jean-Michel Basquiat has a museum club and I absolutely love this idea. A group of his friends would go visit the Met every week.
