Monday Morning Dispatch - Volume #104

Start your Monday off right:

  1. Photographer, Kevin Faingnaert, returned to the world's smallest capital, Tórshavn, to document a national holiday on the Faroe Islands. The series speaks to a live very different then my own on those tiny volcanic islands sitting between Iceland, England, and Norway.
  2. An EDM DJ and rapper team up to record a song directly to a vinyl record. The most interesting part watching the short documentary of the process is seeing how it changes the creators attitude. It feels very similar to handing a photographer a film camera.
  3. Iowa doesn't often appear on any photographer's destination wish lists. Cody Weber, a photographer, has spent the past couple of years traveling around his home state documenting the places often forgotten by the rest of the world. The series is an interesting look at rural Midwest America.
  4. The Instagram account, Daily Overview, curates aerial photographs looking down on human development and how different it can appear from that viewpoint.
  5. “Are you feeling a bit shaken, maybe stirred, maybe fearful and doubtful and completely utterly, wildly terrified? Good. Keep going.”
    – Victoria Erickson
  6. 3 Important Life Skills Nobody Ever Taught You. A great article on the skills that are often acquired via experience rather being handed down.

  7. I love the term crehater coined by Eric Karjaluoto to describe those who feel the need to trash other creator's idea in an effort to get themselves ahead. Making things is both challenge but also a very personal endeavor. Support those who also create.
