Start your Monday off right:
- Michael Paul Smith combines an optical illusion called "forced perspective" with 1/24 scale models set with modern back drops to create a brilliant photo series. His story is as interesting as the photos he creates.
- As an artist who requires a camera to create my art, I marvel at those who turn their bodies into works of art. I will definitely try to find a chance to watch the documentary following the process of creating an original piece for the NYC Ballet Co, Ballet 422.
- One of my goals this weeks is bake a loaf of Adventure Bread. Calling it a "bread" might be slightly deceiving. It nuts and seeds stuck together using baking magic.
Find a beautiful piece of art. If you fall in love with Van Gogh or Matisse or John Oliver Killens, or if you fall love with the music of Coltrane, the music of Aretha Franklin, or the music of Chopin – find some beautiful art and admire it, and realize that that was created by human beings just like you, no more human, no less.
The person may have keener eyesight, a better ear, the person might have a more live body and can dance, but the person cannot be more human than you.
That is very important because that ensures you that you are a human being and nothing human can be alien to you.
You will be able to go around the world, learning languages, speaking to everybody, because no one can be more human than you or be less human.
They can be meaner or crueler, or sweeter or prettier, younger, richer, but they can’t be more human than you. Remember that. Maya Angelou
I stumbled across a post from the writer, Jeff Goins, and perfectly described where I am at right now. "Struggle Is a Sure Sign You’re Creating Art" hit the nail on the head that its just part of the deal.
