"Color"

When

did we stop wearing color?

Years and year and years

ago

in the midst of fancy

in the thrall of infancy

there were tights

and bows,

grass stains

and scabs,

and dresses worn

with galoshes.

Yet color turned,

washed

grey and white

when being

a character

became less important

than

building character.
